This position will work weekends and holidays at Lake Thunderbird State Park for $33,160.
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving patrolling park/resort grounds and property and the enforcement of laws, rules and regulations within the assigned area of responsibility. This includes insuring the safety and welfare of park/resort visitors and assigned staff.
The Park Ranger job family consists of four levels which are distinguished based on the complexity of assigned duties, the expertise required for various responsibilities and the responsibility assigned for providing leadership to others.
This is the basic level where incumbents primarily perform entry level duties in a training status to build their skills in providing security and protection in a state park or resort and providing assistance to visitors using the park/resort facilities.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of Oklahoma Peace Officer CLEET certification which must be a fulltime commission issued and in good standing in the state of Oklahoma; or a graduate of a CLEET approved Collegiate Officer Program (COPS), within twelve months prior to start date or will graduate prior to the start date; or a seasonal ranger with an equivalent of one year experience, in good standing with the agency and the recommendation of their manager.
Applicants must possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license at the time of appointment; be willing to work irregular hours under any conditions; be in sound physical and psychological condition as evidenced through the Department of Tourism and Recreation screening process; successfully complete certification as a peace officer as defined in Title 70, Section 3311(F) O.S. 1981, within one year from date of employment; and successfully pass a rigid character and background investigation.
