The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (ODEMHS) prepares for, responds to, recovers from and mitigates against disasters and emergencies.  The department maintains the State Emergency Operations Center which serves as a command center for reporting emergencies and coordinating state response activities.  OEM also maintains, regularly updates and exercises the State Emergency Operations Plan.  OEM Delivers service to Oklahoma cities, towns and counties through the network of more than 400 local emergency managers.

ODEMSH has included Cybersecurity as a discipline to the State’s All Hazards approach for emergency management.  The cybersecurity discipline is included into the operational planning, response, recovery, and mitigation phases of the emergency management lifecycle.  

ODEMHS is looking to hire a year round part time college intern OR part time expert for the following areas:

Cybersecurity Specialist
The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of tasks/projects that address the needs of the OEM Cyber Security program and to facilitate a learning opportunity for the Intern. The cybersecurity specialist requires knowledge of information security principles, frameworks and best practices and how those principles support the agencies strategy and vision.

• Participate in the creation of cybersecurity documents (training materials, risk assessment tools, cybersecurity planning templates, guidelines and procedures), where appropriate.
• Participate in group training sessions and discussions with local communities.
• Coordinates with technical staff when problems require additional analysis or assistance.
• Participates in special studies and projects.
• Prepare written correspondence and other documentation.

Minimum Qualifications for interns:
Currently enrolled in a Degree Program: Must be a current student with at least 12 hours of college credit working toward a degree in  business, MIS, Computer science or other related degree program.
