Location: Oklahoma School for the Blind – Muskogee

Essential Functions:
Position is responsible for providing classroom instruction to blind/visually impaired elementary students; provide instructional services for students based upon the curriculum requirements for each student’s IEP (Individual Educational Plan); prepare and maintain appropriate reports, records and documents necessary to comply with school policy and meet the local, state and federal requirements to include lesson plans, progress reports, IEPs, curriculum materials and other items as necessary.

Preferred Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Possession of a current and valid teaching certificate in the appropriate subject/content area issued by the Oklahoma Department of Education.

Preferred Qualifications
Visual Impairment (VI) Certification

Selective Qualifications:
Special Education Certification issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

Annual salary range is $37,821.00 - $55,615.00, depending on years of teaching experience and certification. Special education certification also receives an additional 5% of base salary. Employees are provided paid health, dental, life and retirement benefits as well as an option to participate in the State’s tax-deferred annuity program.  This will be a 180-day per year, contracted position.
