Transportation Superintendent II

Work Duties
Plan, direct and prepare project schedules; plan and direct training of personnel in the operation and service of equipment and skilled labor operations; Consult with Division 1 Maintenance Engineer on work priorities and availability of equipment, labor, materials; Evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions; Communicate effectively; explain department rules and regulations to unit employees to ensure compliance; Interview job applicants to determine that experience and qualifications meet agency requirements; Prepare reports concerning unit work activity; Manage assigned elements and perform inspections to evaluate risk exposure to minimize risk and ensure employees are trained and comply with all applicable safety practices and procedures; Coordinate activities with municipalities and local governments; Regulate budgetary controls; Assign unit personnel to Equipment Operator Program, evaluate performance and ensure on-the-job training is completed and documented and employee is tested on the respective pieces of equipment.

Education, experience, training, attendance, discipline (if any) and other qualifications or conduct related to the expected ability of an individual to perform assigned duties may be considered.

Must reside within 75 miles round trip Sallisaw Interstate headquarters in order to respond in a timely manner to accidents, emergencies, natural disasters, etc.

BASIC PURPOSE

Positions in this job family are responsible for performing management and supervisory tasks for one or more highway maintenance units or supervising the maintenance operations for a turnpike.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS

The Transportation Superintendent job family consists of two levels and incumbents are responsible for performing supervisory and management tasks for one or more maintenance units, sign shop, or a turnpike.

   

Level II :                                                

This is the management level of the Transportation Superintendent family and incumbents are responsible for performing management and supervisory tasks for two or more specialized traffic crews, central sign shop, a county district, an interstate maintenance crew, a turnpike, or a heavy maintenance crew.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Level II:                                      

Education and Experience requirements consist of six years of experience in operating transportation equipment.
