Position is located at the Southwest Oklahoma Juvenile Center in Manitou, OK. This is the basic level of this job family; employees will work under close supervision to build skills in planning and conducting recreational activities. Education and Experience requirements Special Requirements:
Please note: This is a safety “safety sensitive” position as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8 (K)(1)(i)(2). Therefore, even for those applicants in possession of a valid medical marijuana license, testing positive for marijuana will result in non-hire, as the position requires “direct patient or direct child care”.
This is an unclassified, term-limited position. Per 10A O.S. § 2-7-202: “Effective June 1, 2020, employees hired for service at the Southwest Oklahoma Juvenile Center in Manitou shall be considered unclassified and employed in a term-limited appointment. If state services continue at the facility after the designated term, the employee may be transferred into a non-term-limited position. Current employees and employees hired prior to June 1, 2020, shall not be subject to this provision.”
Plans, organizes, and conducts various leisure-time and organized physical education activities, prepares scheduled events and insures that required equipment and other materials are in place. Supervises, coaches and instructs indoor and outdoor team and athletic events.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required at this level include knowledge of recreational, athletic and group work principles and techniques; of the fundamentals and rules of common sports; and of first aid treatment techniques. Ability is required to communicate orally; to conduct group activities; and to communicate effectively in writing.
At this level consist of one year of experience in instructing/directing a community service or recreational program; or in closely related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to pass background check and drug screening.
Be able to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
Have and maintain a valid Oklahoma Driver's license while employed in this position.
Some travel may be required.
