This position is with the Electronic Services Division within the Department of Public Safety.
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking a full time Network Administrator. This is an unclassified position in state government, located in Oklahoma City.
Performing technical duties involving the installation and configuration of voice and data networking equipment, performing network analysis, troubleshooting, upgrading and patching network equipment, help desk support, and updating billing and inventory information.
Plan, develop, and implement wireless, telephone, data or other telecommunications or information technology programs and networks for the state;
Perform professional and technical work in providing data and/or voice network services for the state; establish and maintain networks and systems, perform preventive maintenance, evaluate systems performance, respond to malfunctions and operating problems, and identify and resolve causes;
Install, test, and modify data networks, voice networks, wireless networks, and other communication components; coordinate and perform systems tests; adjust, calibrate and modify equipment or components to conform to specifications, implement engineering or software changes or enhance systems performance;
Confers with agency users, representatives of other agencies and political subdivisions and others to determine requirements for wireless, voice, data, and other telecommunications services; coordinates requirements with technical staff, contractors, vendors, or others as needed to develop a plan of approach and provide for implementation of required tasks and activities; • Manages/administers Land Mobile Radio (LMR) public safety network and ensures security compliance with State and Federal requirements; and
Researches network technologies and recommends technical solutions that can add efficiency and monitor performance.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and at least two (2) years of Network experience Or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience involving the installation, operation, repair or maintenance of a voice or data network; professional certification such as ASTRO 25 Trunked Systems, CCNA, JNCIA and CompTIA Network+ is preferred.
All interagency hires will be reinstated and be required to serve a twelve month probationary period.
