Environmental Specialist II, III, or IV

The Oklahoma Water Resources Board is seeking to fill an unclassified position in its Planning and Management Division to assist the Water Planning Director in the coordination of the Oklahoma Comprehensive Water Plan (OCWP). The selected applicant will be responsible for technical, administrative, and outreach activities in OWRB Planning Division, especially those related to the development and implementation of the OCWP and its initiatives.

Education requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree preferred in the discipline(s) of earth sciences, public policy, or water resource planning and not less than two years qualifying experience; a strong aptitude for technical and creative problem solving, project management and tracking skills; team oriented work style, technical report assessment, writing, editing, and communications skills both in-person and by phone, with a demonstrated ability to effectively present information before audiences of diverse opinions. A broad knowledge of environmental policy, hydrologic principles, water resources, water rights, and water quality science and those issues specific to the State of Oklahoma is desirable. Some travel will be required periodically.

Immediate Job Duties:
Assists with
• Stakeholder meetings designed to develop 2025 OCWP tasks/initiatives work plan including:
• Meeting planning: statewide stakeholder meetings: finding venues and dates; participation announcements and calls; meeting plans
• Meeting management: coordination with facilities, note-taking, presentations, intake, etc.
• Post-meeting assessments and write-up findings;
• OCWP Water Provider-Survey development, distribution, emails/calls, and follow up;
• OCWP Technical Workgroup meetings – similar to stakeholder meeting tasks above;
• Project budget and task tracking to fulfill multiple grant requirements, e.g. progress reporting.
• Create content for OWRB web developers for various topic pages such as OCWP Current Activities; Water for 2060 Campaign and Water Portal  (collaborate with partner organizations to maximize content and visibility); Grant Opportunities page;  Produced Water Resources page for links to articles, studies, funding, latest technologies, etc.
• Develop and maintain running list of known projects that have used OCWP data or used OCWP recommendations to help secure funding, etc.
