BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION
Position is in Child Protective Services (CPS) and supports Child Welfare field staff in safety related assessments and developing decision making skills.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS
*Reviews CW cases in death and near death incidents, investigations, high profile cases, and others as assigned to provide support and consultation to CW field staff and internal leadership as needed.
*Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders regarding issues surrounding substance exposed/affected newborns, domestic violence, child maltreatment fatalities, maltreatment in care (MIC), human trafficking, and infant mortality.
*Conducts CPS level trainings, supervisory trainings, and local district trainings to field staff.
*Maintains ongoing reports regarding child deaths, near deaths, public releases, and out-of-home investigations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA's)
*Knowledge of agency policies and procedures; of all state and federal legislation related to assigned agency programs; of sound methods of community organization and planning; and of current social and economic problems; and
*Skill in supervising personnel and evaluating performance and programs; in communicating effectively; both orally and in writing; and in interpreting and applying policy material.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of the curriculum requirements for a master’s degree, and 1 year or professional supervisory, managerial, consultative or administrative experience* in public health administration, social work, guidance and counseling, intellectual disability, probation and parole, public administration or personnel administration; OR an equivalent combination and experience, substituting 1 additional year of qualifying experience for each year of the required education.

*Professional experience in the fields listed must have been the primary job responsibility to be considered as qualifying. Incidental performance of professional work in any area(s) shall not be considered.

NOTES  
A conditional offer of employment to final candidate will be contingent upon a favorable background check and a substance abuse screening.

Veteran's preference points do not apply to this position.
    
BENEFITS
This is a full-time unclassified state position with full state retirement and insurance benefits, including paid health, dental, life, and disability insurance. Annual leave of 10 hours per month and sick leave of 10 hours per month begin accruing immediately.
