OSDH is seeking a full time (Training Specialist II) providing support to Public Health Services - Long Term Care. This is a classified position (34002474)in state government, located in Oklahoma (City). Plan, organize, develop, and operationalize training programs for health facility surveyors in Protective Health Services who inspect or conduct surveys for compliance with Medicare and Medicaid and state licensure regulations. This position is critical for ensuring Federal statutes are met as required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for training programs for all new surveyors and for ensuring knowledge, skills and abilities for all surveyors are maintained

Knowledge of adult education principles and techniques; of classroom and on-the-job training principles; and of various types of equipment and materials used in conducting training. Ability is required to conduct classroom training, workshops or seminars; to use video, audio and other types of equipment to present training; to gather information to use in developing training courses; to communicate effectively; to use small group facilitation tools; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Knowledge of curriculum development methods and techniques; and ability is required to plan and organize adult education courses and facilitation activities; and to plan and evaluate training activities.

This includes the preparation of lesson plans and other materials to be used in conducting training, scheduling and coordinating various workshops, classes or seminars, conducting training in a variety of settings and/or facilitating a variety of meetings or seminars.
The Training Specialist job family consists of four levels which are distinguished based on the complexity of work assigned, experience required to complete work assignments, and the responsibility for providing supervision to others.
This is the career level of this job family where employees are assigned responsibility for a full range of activities in developing and presenting training courses and programs. This includes preparation of curriculum, designing participant manuals, collecting appropriate videos and other materials, and conducting or facilitating training, meetings, seminars or other discussions in various settings. Limited responsibilities may be assigned for providing guidance, or training to others in developing and conducting employee training courses.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelors degree plus one year of experience in education or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Or a master's degree in adult education or human resource development.
