OSDH is seeking two full time Sexual Health Advanced Practice Registered Nurses providing support to Sexual Health and Harm Reduction Service. The annual salary for this position is up to $90,000.00 based on education and experience.

Position Description:  
The purpose of the Sexual Health Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, APRN, is to provide advanced health care to individuals. This includes assessing health, as well as analyzing data to determine medical and nursing needs; including the prescriptions for rapid start antiretroviral therapy for people newly diagnosed with HIV as well as prescribing and monitoring Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). This position will also execute the provision of treatment for people diagnosed with Hepatitis C.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Interacting with and sharing information with the health department staff and community partners to create a positive atmosphere for providing comprehensive health care services to patients.
• Collecting and/previewing subjective data.
• Collecting specimens for cultures, urine, vaginal swabs, rectal swabs, pharyngeal swabs and blood as indicated; evaluating subjective, clinical, and objective signs and symptoms to diagnose and treat per protocol within the Sexually Transmitted Infection programs.
• Collaborating with the patient regarding goals and plan of care.
• Identifying health care needs outside of those provided by the health department and making appropriate referrals to other provides or physicians as needed; performing follow up services as needed.
• Attending continuing educational seminars and courses to accumulate the needed hours to maintain prescriptive authority, nursing licenses, and AANP certification.
• Maintaining Registered Nursing License, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License, and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification.

Education and Experience
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of possession of a valid Oklahoma license as a Registered Nurse by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, recognition as a certified Advanced Practice Nurse by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, and three years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required knowledge includes the knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and chemistry; of medical diagnosis techniques, methods and procedures; of the theory, principles and practices of nursing or health care delivery systems; of ambulatory care; of methods and procedures of laboratory and X-ray and other diagnosis techniques; of pharmaceutical agents, their usage and contraindications; of minor surgical procedures and techniques; of safety and safety practices; and of medical management techniques. Knowledge of various types of communicable diseases; of state and federal laws concerning the treatment and reporting of various types of infections or exposure to various diseases.

Ability is required to conduct physical examinations and health assessments; to provide advanced specialized nursing care; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to instruct and counsel clients; to interview and obtain medical information; to develop of therapeutic programs; and to apply emergency and first aid measures.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Combination of office, vehicle, exam offices, and public establishments may be exposed to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, and medicinal preparations. Varied activities including sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, pushing, and reaching. This position requires long period of sitting, standing, and daily use of computer and phone.

Travel is required with this position. Applicants must be willing to perform all job-related travel associated with this position.

Preferred Qualification
Experienced in working directly with infectious diseases.
