Chief of Maintenance (6511)

SUMMARY:
Under general direction of Lodge Manager, plans, directs, and supervises a work force engaged in the general maintenance work of a state resort.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
Inspects buildings, premises, and equipment in order to determine if conditions require electrical, plumbing, plastering, masonry, or mechanical repair or other maintenance work; makes estimates of cost of labor and materials; inspects work in progress and upon completion for compliance with standards and for satisfactory operation; inspects work performed under contracts.

Supervises several groups of trade workers, including painters, plumbers, machinists, welders, refrigeration mechanics, and their supervisors: supervises groups of maintenance repair technicians, groundskeepers, and laborers. Supervises the performance of routine custodial work, such as sweeping floors, washing window, cleaning lavatories, dusting furniture and equipment, and collecting and disposing of refuse.

Reports time and attendance of crews; arranges shift and working schedules.

Establishes specifications for the requisitions of tools, materials, and supplies; reviews records of work performed.

Complete reports of equipment operations, of installation and maintenance work performed, and of material, supplies, and equipment used.

Other duties as assigned by Lodge Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of at least two (2) of the building trades; and of the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, or utility systems, such as heating or steam generating, refrigeration, sewage, water treatment, or electrical power generating and distribution.

Skill in supervising skilled workers; in analyzing maintenance needs, and in setting priorities for crews of workers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Six years of experience in skilled building trade work involving the construction,
maintenance, alteration and/or repair of buildings, grounds, and utilities or an equivalent
combination of education and experience and two (2) years of supervisory experience.

This position will require that applicants be willing and able to perform job-related travel. The positions will require possession of a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
