Reporting to the Information Technology Manager, the Automation Engineer is responsible for developing computer systems, applications, and end user systems with automation and configuration management tools.

The engineer will design and develop a Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) automation framework for operating systems configurations, COTS products, and application software utilizing multiple tools. This position  will develop a comprehensive, systemic automation deployment involving multiple physical environments; AWS and SCCM as a development/test environment; security compliance; and database deployments. The individual will need to be a strong Chef developer in order to start immediately and develop automation scripts from requirements at the command line in support of the Administrative Office of the Courts Management Information Systems (AOC MIS) teams.

Responsibilities and essential functions will include (but not be limited to) the following:
• Provide daily Automation Development using Chef and other automation tools through scripting  
  to ensure all system technical requirements are addressed.
• Develop Chef scripts to automate infrastructure and application deployment to production.
• Update designs based on Discrepancy Reports (DRs) and Change Requests (CR), through effective
  collaboration with the staff
• Collaboration with the infrastructure and application teams to ensure program deadlines and
  milestones are met.
• Weekly status reporting to  the Information Technology Manager and periodically to the
  Director/Deputy Director and the IT Leadership team upon request..
• Develop and configure test automation networks and execute stability and performance tests
• Interact with users, business analysts, application development teams to understand
  business/technical requirements and system design.
• Contribute to overall automation framework design and enhancement
• Collaborate with infrastructure resources to ensure testing meets standards.
• Design, test, and support automated risk-management techniques and enables the support of
  continuous and consistent integration techniques for the development teams.
• Design and build automation frameworks for the deployment, management, and monitoring of web-
  based business services and platforms.
• Assist with training and mentoring staff in DevOps automation skills.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
• Experience designing and writing scripts for automation tools such as Chef or Puppet to
  perform operating system builds; as well as software installation and configuration
• Experience in the development and testing of CI/CD pipelines and related methodologies
• Experience in system development utilizing Amazon Web Services (AWS), SCCM, and related
• Knowledge and experience in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Ruby, Python, Bash, etc.
• Experience with Azure Devops and/or Team Foundate Server builds and releases
• Experience with GIT repositories
• Exceptional communication skills with extensive experience working with staff and leadership
• Knowledge and experience of COTS software installations
• Strong attention to detail with results-oriented mindset
• 4+ years of related work experience
• Experience and understanding of Jenkins
• Experience as a Windows System Administrator

Education / Experience:
• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Technology or Information Technology or equivalent work experience.
• 4+ years of related work experience.
