Applicants must be willing and able to be on call twenty-four (24) hours per day; be willing to travel frequently and be away from home for extended periods of time; be willing to temporarily relocate to the place of assignment; and be willing to accept the physical discomforts and/or dangers inherent in the work.

OCC NOTE:
Applicant must be willing to work shifts that will routinely include weekends and also include early days or evenings/nights. This position is located at a facility that operates up to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and all employees are subject to assignment of all shifts.

BASIC PURPOSE

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibility for the enforcement of state laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to motor carrier operations, motor vehicle license and registration, and motor fuel taxes and fees.  This includes monitoring and inspecting motor carriers for required permits, licenses, registration or decals, issuing warnings or citations, impounding vehicles or determining other appropriate actions against violators.  Duties are accomplished through the operation of a motor vehicle weigh station or patrolling state roads and highways. Motor Vehicle Enforcement Officers at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission will provide administrative and other enforcement support to CLEET certified Motor Carrier Enforcement Officers, and will not exercise the powers of police or peace officers in the performance of their duties under 47 OS §§161 to 180M or the Motor Carrier Act of 1995.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS

This job family consists of three levels which are distinguished by the level of complexity and diversity of the specific job assignments, the extent of responsibility assigned for each level, the expertise required for the completion of the duties assigned, and the responsibility assigned for providing leadership to others.

Level II:    
This is the career level of the job family where employees will be assigned responsibility at the weigh stations, establishing and maintaining roadblocks, issuing citations and impounding vehicles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Level II:    
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of two (2) years of experience in the field of transportation administration, law enforcement, security, reserve officer work, or in the transportation industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting the completion of thirty (30) semester hours at an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.
