BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION
Position is a clinical resource to child welfare staff through consultation, training, assessment, direction, and coaching. 

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS
*Assess health status of individuals, families, & communities; develop plans & implement appropriate nursing interventions.
*Evaluate & determine health resources necessary to meet individual, family & community health needs.
*Educate individuals, families, communities, & members of the health care team about the principles of
disease prevention & health promotion.
*May provide supervision to other professional or paraprofessional personnel, including scheduling work assignments, approving leave, initiating disciplinary actions, evaluating health care & performance of assigned staff, providing training, & otherwise insuring quality.
*Delegate tasks as may safely be performed by others, consistent with educational preparation & that do not conflict with the provisions of the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.
*Assure quality health care through use of various measures such as record review, peer review, direct observation, & assessment of individual, family, & community for the desired outcome.
*Perform specialized nursing functions as educationally prepared.
*Develop & present educational programs relevant to nursing practices & standards or care and followup with evaluation of learning.
*May complete special assignments such as quality improvement, mentoring, & surveillance of potential patient care incidents of quality indicators for individuals who may be at risk for rapid status change.
*Employees at this level will deal with complex health issues & may cover for nurse managers in their absence.
*This position is a clinical resource to child welfare staff through consultation, training, assessment, direction, and coaching.  Identifies and coordinates appropriate health care resources. Participates in the development of plan of care so that the child's needs are best met. May also participate in court as a representative of DHS/CW as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA's)
*Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, & techniques; of health promotion & disease prevention; of nursing management of available health care resources; of nutrition & diet therapy; & of the functions of various clinical departments.

*Ability to develop, organize, & implement an effective nursing care plan; to provide education & training; to assess condition & needs of patients, families & communities appropriate to the care setting; to take appropriate intervention; to counsel & teach patients & families; & to provide direction or guidance to non-licensed personnel in assigned area of responsibility to ensure quality care.

*Knowledge of available health programs & resources; of federal & state rules & regulations concerning health services; of accreditation, certification & licensure standards; of preventive health practices; of principles & methods of teaching; of nursing standards; & of nursing policies & procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements at this level consist of possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing and 2 years of professional nursing experience.  Completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree in nursing may be substituted for 1 year of the required experience.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATE
Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.

Preference:
Community Health Nursing; Pediatrics/Behavioral-Psych Pediatrics; Forensics/SANE; ER with primary infant, child, & adolescent care.

NOTES
A conditional offer of employment to final candidate will be contingent upon a favorable background check and a substance abuse screening.

Veteran's preference points do not apply to this position.
    
BENEFITS
This is a full-time unclassified state position with full state retirement and insurance benefits, including paid health, dental, life, and disability insurance. Annual leave of 10 hours per month and sick leave of 10 hours per month begin accruing immediately.
