Company Overview:
The role of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) Prevention Division is to create healthy communities, in which people have a high quality of life, including: healthy environments at work and in school; supportive communities and neighborhood connections with families and friends; and communities free of substance abuse and mental health problems. ODMHSAS uses the Strategic Prevention Framework to plan and implement effective prevention services. The framework is built on a community-based risk and protective factors approach to prevention - to reduce risk and increase protection.  Prevention programs include, but are not limited to, Mental Health First Aid; the Oklahoma Partnership  Initiative;   the Oklahoma  Prevention Needs Assessment; PACT 360;  Screening, Brief Intervention  and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT); underage drinking prevention initiatives; and youth suicide prevention and early intervention initiatives.

Job Type/Salary:
Full-time, M-F / $53,500+ annually

The individual selected for this position will work in the Prevention Division Central Office located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services. The individual will work under general supervision, monitor existing strategies and provide technical assistance in the area of primary prevention with a focus on population-based change utilizing public health principles. The primary area of focus will be school-based primary prevention strategies.  The ideal candidate should be able to apply change theory principles to strategic planning processes aimed at achieving outcomes. The individual will promote innovative solutions to solve multi-faceted problems. Additional duties consist of assuring compliance with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) standards, evidence based strategy requirements and other applicable governing/codified standards in managing and delivering prevention services. 

Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Public Administration, Education or related degree and five years professional experience in substance abuse or violence prevention services or related field and one year of program management or supervisory experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
