The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) is responsible for providing services to Oklahomans who are affected by mental illness and substance abuse. Griffin Memorial Hospital (GMH) is located in Norman, Oklahoma, and serves all 77 counties in Oklahoma as the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) treatment center for adults.  GMH provides community crisis stabilization and residential treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring mental health and trauma related conditions.

Job Type/Salary:
Full time - $62,000+
Schedule days Mon-Fri 8:00 am-5:00 pm

Responsibilities:
Be part of our mission, promoting healthy communities and providing the highest quality care to enhance the well-being of all Oklahomans.  Treatment philosophy is trauma-informed, co-occurring, person-centered, and recovery-oriented in nature. 

The Director of Nursing administers the nursing program at Griffin Memorial Hospital to maintain accreditation standards of patient care.  The Director of Nursing is responsible for the operation of the nursing service, including determining the types and numbers of nursing personnel and staff necessary to provide nursing care for all areas of the hospital.

The Director of Nursing functions at the senior leadership level of the hospital and assumes an active leadership role in the hospital’s decision-making structure and process.  Advises in matters related to nursing services, establishes goals and objectives of the nursing program, and monitors quality assurance standards, policies and procedures.  Recommends and approves the selection, transfer, promotion, discipline and other transactions related to personnel.  Conducts staff meetings, direct orientations, and in-service trainings for nursing staff.  Initiates studies to evaluate effectiveness of nursing services in relation to its objectives and cost.

Qualifications:
Possession of a valid permanent OK Registered Nurse license as approved by the OK State Board of Nursing, and a Master’s in Business or Public Administration, a Mental Health or Health related field, or a Nursing related field; and four (4) years of experience as a Registered Nurse performing professional psychiatric nursing, two (2) years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity.

Possession of a valid permanent OK Registered Nurse license as approved by the OK State Board of Nursing, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, a Mental Health or Health related field, or a Nursing related field; and five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse performing professional psychiatric nursing two (2) years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, or supervisory capacity.

Possession of a valid permanent OK Registered Nurse license as approved by the OK State Board of Nursing; and seven  (7) years of experience as a registered nurse performing professional psychiatric nursing two (2) years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, or supervisory capacity.

Preference given to applicants who possess a postgraduate degree in nursing or a related field, which may include health care administration or business administration.
