Job Description, essential functions:
Perform administrative and confidential examination of fingerprints for applicants through manual or automated fingerprint identification systems.  Capturing applicant fingerprints in the Livescan office and with the mobile unit.  Maintain database and records for background check results. Other responsibilities include logging incoming requests, reviewing requests for completeness, answering phone calls and assisting callers with processes.

Job description, marginal functions:
Extensive travel (frequent travel and occasional overnight stays) and computer usage.  Will attend all meetings, required trainings and workshops.

Preference Qualifications Statement:
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in fingerprinting and background checks.

BASIC PURPOSE

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities for conducting background investigations and criminal history searches on current and prospective employees, community partners, vendors and volunteers.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS

Level I:
This is the career level of this job family where incumbents will be responsible for performing a full range of professional level activities related to background investigations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Level I:    
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree or four years of technical clerical office work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position.

Applicants for the Department of Human Services must be willing to be on-call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and to work extended hours and weekends as required.
