The State of Oklahoma is seeking a Director of Child Welfare Services for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) who has a commitment to public service and a proven track record of successful leadership. In Oklahoma's state-administered system, this director will have an opportunity to directly impact the safety and well-being of children and families involved in the child welfare system and to collaborate with families and their community to ensure that more children in the Department's custody have safe, loving, and permanent homes.
We are searching for an experienced professional to lead and continually develop a diverse and dynamic workforce and to form meaningful community collaborations to meet the challenges of protecting and supporting children and their families who are involved in the child welfare system. The Director of Child Welfare Services is expected to plan, organize, innovate, and direct the work of the Child Welfare division in accordance with the established mission, vision and values of the agency, and assure that all programs are administered in compliance with federal and state rules and regulations. The Director is also expected to help develop and engage a diverse group of community partners to augment the agency's mission and efforts to keep children safe and families strong in Oklahoma. Program areas include Child Protective Services, Foster Care, Permanency Planning, Adoptions, Prevention Services, and related administrative and service delivery systems, serving all areas of the state.
The agency prefers candidates who hold a Master's degree and have at least 8 years of professional experience in human services or related fields, including 4 years in an administrative capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Note: No substitution is permitted for the required administrative or supervisory level experience.
A conditional offer of employment to final candidate will be contingent upon a favorable background check and a substance abuse screening.

This is a full-time unclassified state position with full state retirement and insurance benefits, including paid health, dental, life, and disability insurance. Annual leave of 10 hours per month and sick leave of 10 hours per month begin accruing immediately.
