Salary: $15.00 per hour.

This position will provide interpreting services for programs offered at the Garfield County Health Department to help with completion of SoonerCare applications, enrollment in federal qualifying programs, and assist in scheduling appointments for Spanish speaking clients.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assist Spanish speaking clients with accessing federal, state and local programs offered at the health department.
• Answer telephones; answer questions, route calls and take messages as needed.
• Interpret Spanish into English and back to Spanish.
• Schedule client appointments.
• Use computer to find patient information and provide necessary information to nursing services.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
Requirements include knowledge of office methods and procedures; of telephone procedures and standard business communications; of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and basic mathematics. Skill is required to operate office machines including computers/PCs. Ability to translate from Spanish to English for several programs including Family Planning, Women Infants and Children, General Clinic, and Children First; to follow oral and written instructions; to independently follow established protocols, encourage respondents to answer questions, probe and clarify if needed and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Education and Work Experience:
Experience translating and/or interpreting English to Spanish and Spanish to English.

This position has a selective qualification:
Bilingual Speaker in English and Spanish, ability to communicate verbally and in writing with English/Spanish speaking respondents

Applicants must demonstrate they possess the minimum qualification (education and experience requirements) and the selective qualification in order to be considered for this position.

NOTE: Selected applicant must pass the Oklahoma State Department of Health Certification of Interpreter Training after hire.
