Salary: $1,181.42 biweekly
This position will provide WIC Certification and Recertification Services; conduct nutritional assessment on individuals, including measurements, biochemical tests using standardized procedure. Support and assist breastfeeding mothers with problems and solutions.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Interview patients recording diet histories.
• Review patient medical charts for dietetic and nutritional information.
• Assist nutrition therapist in determining appropriate patient care.
• Provide patients diet instructions as directed by nutrition therapist.
• Conduct classes on nutrition and consumer education.
• Clean and issue breast pumps to clients.
• Participate in public information and education nutritional activities.
• Maintains records and reports.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This job family consists of only one level and employees are responsible for performing all functions involving paraprofessional dietetic work in a nutrition and dietetic service unit or in a public health department. In this role they will conduct and assist in conducting nutritional assessments of individuals, including anthropometric measurements, biochemical tests using standardized procedures, clinical or physical examination, dietary intake and economic, social and environmental factors. Employees will also provide nutritional education to individual patients, and discuss dietary problems of patients with doctors, nurses and other allied health personnel.
Education and Work Experience:
Education and Experience requirements consist of an associate’s degree in dietetic technology or a closely related field; or two years of experience working under the supervision of a dietitian/nutrition therapist in a facility, institution, school, hospital or public health setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Title 74, 840-5.5. (A)(4) - Persons employed with one-time, limited duration, federal or other grant funding that is not continuing or indefinitely renewable. The length of the unclassified employment shall not exceed the period of time for which that specific federal funding is provided.
