(ODMHSAS) is responsible for providing services to Oklahomans who are affected by mental illness and substance abuse. ODMHSAS strives to provide persistent, incremental improvements in the quality and effectiveness of treatment which results in better recovery for more Oklahomans. Our state-operated facilities are commissioned to provide services that promote consumer empowerment, wellness, recovery, and integration in the community.
Major Work Duties:
The incumbent in this position would be responsible for performing technical direct and indirect nursing care, under the supervision or direction of a registered nurse or licensed physician. This would include assisting with assessing, reporting, and recording health status of consumers, families, and groups in a variety of settings. Duties will also include taking temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, administering medications as ordered, participating in developing and implementing appropriate aspects of a plan of care, and various other technical nursing tasks in providing health care to consumers.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience: (Level III) –
Possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a licensed practical nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing and three years of practical nursing experience.
Additional Factors for Consideration: Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 50 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 25 pounds. Applicants must be able to pass an OSBI background check. Possession of a valid U.S. driver’s license at the time of appointment to perform job related travel.

THIS AGENCY REQUIRES COVERAGE 24 HOURS, 7 DAYS PER WEEK. WORK HOURS AND LOCATION MAY VARY DEPENDING ON BUSINESS NECESSITY. EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK WEEKENDS AND OVERTIME.
