BASIC PURPOSE

Positions in this job family are responsible for performing professional computer aided drafting and design (CADD) work and transportation management operations work developing departmental plans, maps, projects and reports.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS

The CADD Specialist job family has six levels which are distinguished by the level of the complexity of specific job assignments, the extent of responsibility assigned for a specific task, the level of expertise required for completion of assigned tasks, and the responsibility assigned for providing training and/or supervision to others.

Level I:     
Incumbents at this level perform drafting duties in a training status.  Incumbents receive formalized and on-the-job training working under close supervision.

Level II:     
Incumbents at this level perform drafting duties at the full performance level.

Level III:     
Incumbents at this level perform advanced drafting duties and/or beginning level design duties.  Incumbents at this level may also be responsible for providing training to other employees performing drafting duties.

Level IV:     
Incumbents at this level perform design duties at the career level.  This represents the full performance level of this series.  Incumbents in this class may provide guidance and training to others performing drafting at all levels and those performing beginning design work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Level I:     
Education and Experience requirements at this level consists of six months experience in CADD work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting the completion of three semester hours in CADD, engineering,  mathematics, or a closely related field for the required six months of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting the completion of one month of a vocational or technical training course in CADD for each month of the required experience.

Level II:     
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of two years of experience in CADD work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting six semester hours in CADD, engineering, mathematics, or a closely related field for each year of the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting the completion of one month of a vocational or technical training course in CADD for each month of the required experience.

Level III:     
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level II plus one additional year of qualifying experience. 

Level IV:     
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level III plus one additional year of qualifying experience.
