The bi-weekly hiring rate established for this position is $1,531.58.
This position will monitor adolescent pregnancy prevention projects and adolescent parent projects.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Provides training, technical assistance, and monitors the Maternal and Child Health Services adolescent pregnancy prevention projects and Public Health Youth Councils.
• Provide consultation and guidance to individuals, professionals and communities in the development and implementation of preventive health education activities focused on improving the health of Oklahoma’s youth, including teen pregnancy prevention and youth suicide prevention.
• Conduct onsite visits, organize and conduct needed training.
• Assist in the development of grant applications, invitations to bid and educational materials.
• Assist with training and youth surveillance activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of public health problems, principles and practices; of theoretical concepts of health behavior and application of such; of group organization and leadership; of community infrastructure development; of current social and economic problems as they relate to public health; of statistical methods; of basic epidemiology; grant preparation along with the knowledge or supervisory principles and practices. Ability is required to speak to the public; to organize communities, establish and facilitate coalitions, and direct groups; to prepare a variety of educational materials, such as pamphlets, bulletins, oral presentations, articles for publication, newsletters and curricula; to use personal computers and applicable software such as word processing and digital/video presentation; and to show cultural competence in working with diverse populations.
Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Community Health, School Health Education, Health Studies, Nutrition, Health Behavior, or Nursing or a bachelor's or master's degree in another field and be a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
This position has preferred qualifications:
Master's degree in nursing, health education, social work, community health or public health or two years of experience, including one year of work with adolescents and grant writing and experience with providing evidence-based curriculum..
