Position will supervise and train subordinate you guidance specialist staff on the unit. This includes assigning, planning, and organizing work, provide training and evaluating performance. Monitor residents.
Responsible for coordinating and supervising activities of residents, preparing daily reports, including input to the Unit Treatment Team in regards to recommendations and review of residents treatment plans, serves as shift supervisors ensuring appropriate behavior and participation. Provides paraprofessional counseling and instruction to residents by directing their daily activities, maintaining order, providing support, and helping them develop and achieve personal goals.
Conduct daily inspections of assigned living areas to ensure safety/hygiene standards are met.
Manages and non-aggressive behavior through verbal and physical intervention using prescribed and approved techniques. Controls movement of residents to and from living quarters for activities.

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities related to the security and control of juvenile offenders in a state-operated secure facility within the juvenile justice system.
The Juvenile Security Officer job family has four levels, which are distinguished by the complexity of work performed, the expertise required to perform the assigned duties and the responsibility for providing leadership to others.
This is the specialist level of this job family where employees are assigned responsibilities involving an advanced level of work. This may include the supervision of an assigned shift during the absence of the supervisor, making work assignments, and conducting various investigations or other security related activities.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of the statutory requirements of Title 337 OAC, Section 3-13-43 (C) (1): All direct-care staff shall be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or its equivalent and eighteen (18) months of experience in security work for a governmental agency or direct care of juveniles in a secure residential care and treatment facility.
Must be able to pass background check and drug screening.
Applicants must be willing to work overtime and to work on shifts.
Duties require employees to stand and walk for prolonged periods and to have the ability to physically restrain residents using approved restraint techniques. Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Employees must pass all training requirements for sole supervision of residents (first aide, CPR, and restraint training).
