Education and Experience
The LP Gas Administration is seeking applicants that possess strong leadership, supervision and managerial experience. Accounting experience, as well as knowledge of state government, is preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is also preferred.

Applicants must have two (2) years' experience in a position of managerial responsibility, OR have two (2) years' experience as a LP Gas safety code enforcement officer.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, a legal resident of Oklahoma, and pass a background investigation. A selected classified applicant must sign a letter of understanding that they are resigning the classified service to accept the position in the unclassified service.

The LP Gas Administration will select and present to the Governor three (3) nominees for consideration for appointment to the position by the Governor. The gubernatorial appointment is subject to confirmation by the Senate, and the selected Administrator will serve at the pleasure of the Governor.

After the date of their appointment, the appointee may not be engaged in any business in this state related to the production, manufacture, distribution, sale, installation or transportation of any of the products or equipment covered by the Oklahoma Liquefied Petroleum Gas Regulation Act.

Major Work Duties
The Oklahoma Liquefied Petroleum Gas Administrator is ultimately responsible for the overall management of the agency and all aspects of the operations. This primarily involves the supervision of employees and CLEET-certified officers, and coordination with the LP Gas Board. This position is responsible for achievement of the organization's mission and financial objectives with specific responsibilities in the areas of statute/rule enforcement, public safety as it relates to LP gas, and HR and fiscal management for the agency.

The Oklahoma Liquefied Petroleum Gas Administrator has responsibility for administering and enforcing all laws and regulations relating to the safety in storage, distribution, dispensing, transporting and utilization of liquefied petroleum gases in this state and in the manufacture, fabrication, assembly, sale, installation or use in this state of liquefied petroleum gas systems, containers, apparatus or appliance in accordance with the rules set forth by the LP Gas Board.

• Oversee the investigation of violations, issuance of citations, processing fines and hold administrative hearings to ensure safety compliance related to liquefied petroleum gas in the State of Oklahoma.
• Design and develop safety seminars and schools for dealers, managers, and fuel handlers.
• Administer the dealer and manager application tests, including review and development of test questions.
• Assist in the development of new legislation and administrative rules for presentation to the LP Gas Board.
• Maintain oversight of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Administration.
• Manage and supervise employees of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Administration.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required at this level include knowledge of management of an agency budget and the ability to submit accurate and timely reports; collaboration to develop policy and legislation; leadership to authorize personnel actions; development of programs and projects to support the mission; oversight of facilities and equipment; cooperation with community leaders; development of strategy; authorization of legal orders with the assistance of counsel; encouragement of organizational development through training and of community support by education of other organizations; and the ability to communicate effectively to b by regular updates and board meetings.
