MWRD's Internship Program offers paid internship positions. While the main focus of the MWRD is on wastewater management, there are opportunities to gain knowledge and practical experience in a wide range of functions in each department.
Paid Interns
Paid interns are limited to 119 working days per calendar year and receive $15.00 per hour. They do not receive benefits or paid days off.

Description:
The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is searching for a current undergraduate or graduate student to fill a Civil Engineering Intern position in the Engineering Department - TARP/Sewer Design Section. The prospective intern will be exposed to engineering design concepts, contract specification preparation, contract bidding process, contract post-award contract activities, and facility planning for the state revolving fund loan program.
Rate of Pay:
This is a paid internship at $15.00/hr.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Applicants must have a current residence in Cook County, IL; be a citizen or national of the U.S., or legally authorized to work in the U.S.; obtain a letter of recommendation from current school; and submit a cover letter stating interest in the position.
Educational Requirements:
Applicants must be a current graduate or undergraduate student seeking a degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environment Engineering.
Must possess general engineering fundamentals that are completed in the second year of engineering degree program. Applicants should also have good written and oral communication skills.
