Purpose

The IT Project Manager provides application and resource leadership for systems maintenance, projects, and upgrades relative to financial, human resources and related applications. The IT Project Manager also monitors application service provider contracts for production availability and managed services.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the planning, development, testing, implementation and extensions of the enterprise-wide financial and human resources systems and related modules, including upgrades.
  • Resolve issues and ensure customers are informed regarding progress, timeframes and other implementation and upgrade concerns.
  • Inform ITMD management regarding staff, financial details, and status for all enterprise activities; compose and compile related memoranda, reports and presentations.
  • Supervise staff, including performance reviews, training and development and scheduling.
  • Coordinate project activities, resources, equipment and information, including preparation of project proposals, timeframes, schedule and budget; monitor and track project progress and handle issues that arise.

Conditions of Employment

  • Evening and weekend work may be required to troubleshoot issues and to meet implementation and upgrade requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business administration or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. 
  2. Five years of professional-level experience performing functions related to IT project management, allocation of resources for enterprise-level applications, and managing an IT development staff.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.

Current Salary

The current salary range (1HX) is $70,827 -$99,154, and the resident incentive salary range for City of Milwaukee residents is $72,952 - $102,129. Appointment above the minimum is possible based upon level of experience and other qualifications and is subject to approval.

Selection Process

THE SELECTION PROCESS will be job related and will consist of one or more of the following: education and experience evaluation; written, oral, or performance tests, or other assessment methods. The Department of Employee Relations reserves the right to call only the most qualified candidates to oral and performance examinations. Oral examinations may include written exercises. Selection process component weights will be determined by further analysis of the job.

INITIAL FILING DATE - The examination will be held as soon as practical after Monday, January 27, 2020. Receipt of applications may be discontinued at any time after this date without prior notice.
