Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and the Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this position exists is to assist in planning, coordinating, and supervising the maintenance of the City’s parks and related public grounds. The work responsibilities include overseeing daily and seasonal maintenance activities and supervising maintenance crews performing grounds upkeep, landscaping, turf care, irrigation repair, playground inspection, and facility maintenance, assisting with scheduling and directing maintenance operations, conducting inspections to ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards, coordinating contracted services and special projects, performing administrative duties related to work orders, inventory, and equipment, and supporting planning for future park improvements. The employee reports directly to the Parks Division Superintendent.

Minimum Qualifications

A High school diploma or GED, and four (4) years of experience in parks, grounds, or landscape maintenance, including one (1) year in a supervisory or lead worker role.   

NOTE:  Qualifying education, training, and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions and requires standing, walking, bending, lifting to 50 pounds, and operating maintenance equipment; the work may involve exposure to chemicals, noise, equipment hazards, and uneven terrain, and occasionally requires after‑hours or on‑call duty for emergencies or special events. Must possess a valid driver’s license to drive city vehicles.

Kind of Examination
