Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.
**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations**
The
fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform the duties of
equipment operator in the installation and maintenance of traffic control pavement
markings and/or signs. Position incumbents are primarily assigned to either the
Street Striping subdivision or the Sign subdivision and perform the duties associated
with that subdivision; however, all position incumbents are cross-trained on
the duties of both subdivisions and can be utilized as needed. Position incumbents assist the Traffic
Maintenance Worker III in training Traffic Maintenance Worker Is and may serve
as lead workers for two to six member crews.
Primary work responsibilities may include: serving as primary operator of
striping machines, thermoplastic melting and striping machines, cold laid
plastic machine, and bituminous machines; training TMW Is on operation of
machines; assisting in the onsite layout of pavement markings for installation
and revitalization projects; serving as the lead worker on sign crews; assisting
in the construction of street and traffic control signs; and performing additional
duties in service to the department. Incumbents receive onsite direction from
Traffic Maintenance Worker IIIs and are supervised by a Traffic Maintenance
Supervisor.
High school diploma or GED and one year of experience at the Traffic Maintenance Worker I level or equivalent. Must also have at least six months of experience operating paint striping equipment and/or sign manufacturing machines.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
