The fundamental reason this classification
exists is to complete welding projects throughout the City of Montgomery. The work
responsibilities include completing welding projects, including building,
installing, and repairing fences, overseeing and coordinating the daily
activities of assigned crew members, and performing administrative duties. Work
is performed with considerable independent judgement. Welders in the Street
Maintenance Department are supervised by the Maintenance Supervisor, Street
Maintenance Superintendent, or Maintenance Department Director. Welders in the
Parks and Recreation Department are supervised by the District Parks
Maintenance Supervisor. Welders in the Leisure Services Department are
supervised by the Parks and Recreation Supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work primarily takes place in an outdoor setting, with frequent exposure to loud noise, dirt, dust, fumes, and adverse weather conditions, such as rain, extreme heat, and cold.
