The fundamental reason this
classification exists is to supervise work crews involved in collection and
transportation of solid waste and recyclables, street sweeping, and litter
control. The essential functions are: supervises
the work of Refuse Collection Supervisors and their work crews; manages and
reviews the work of assigned supervisors and work crews; and communicates with
customers regarding customer complaints and/or concerns, services available,
department policies and procedures, and City ordinances and laws. Refuse Collection Managers provide direct and
indirect supervision to employees of various classifications including Refuse
Collection Supervisors, Equipment Operators, Sanitation Truck Drivers, and
Service Maintenance Workers. Refuse
Collection Managers operate with an extensive degree of independence and report
to the Assistant Department Head and Department Head.
One year of experience as a work
crew foreman/supervisor in refuse collection.
Must have and maintain a Driver’s License and an insurable
driving record as needed to operate City vehicles.
WORKING
CONDITIONS: Work will include
shift work, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to
elements to include heat, cold, rain and dust.
