Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this position exists is to manage an assigned food service operation in the City of Montgomery.  These food service environments include areas such as concessions, fast food, special events, and catering events. Employees in this classification supervise both full-time and part-time food service workers.  The work responsibilities of this classification are: manages and performs inventory and cashier duties; directs and supervises employees engaged in sales, inventory-taking, and reconciling cash receipts; cooks and serves food items and/or entire meals; cleans and maintains kitchen and dining area; and contributes to department objectives. The Food Services Worker II is supervised by the Athletic Superintendent or the Food Services Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year of food service experience (other than salad bar preparation) that includes the supervision of food service employees and processing financial transactions such as a cashier.  Must possess current Servsafe Food Protection Manager Certification.

NOTE:  Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

 

Special Requirements

Must be willing to submit to criminal background and driving record check. Work will include nights, weekends and holidays.  Must be willing to be on-call for emergencies or as needed.  Must have own transportation as needed to travel between facilities during a single shift.  Must be able to lift food supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.  Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record in order to drive city vehicles.

AGE REQUIREMENT: Must be at least 21 years of age and able to serve alcoholic beverages.

Kind of Examination

If more than five qualified applications are received, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
