This is professional and
technical work handling, housing, and installing works of art in the Museum’s
collection or on loan. The Preparator/Designer is a member of the Museum’s
curatorial department, and works cooperatively with the curators and
registrars. The Museum Preparator/ Designer is supervised by the Senior Curator
of Art.
Must have two (2) years of
experience in fine carpentry work and the care and handling of art or artifacts
to include matting and framing.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that
provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will
be considered.
Must possess a valid Alabama
driver’s license as needed to pick up parts from local vendors and transport
works of art. May work overtime,
weekends, and holidays. May require out-of-town and out-of-State overnight
courier travel.
