Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this position exists is to oversee and promote all City of Montgomery Recreation Department programs. The primary work responsibilities of this position are: oversees all City of Montgomery recreation programs, regularly evaluates to ensure recreation programs are being carried out, performs financial duties, supervises recreation department employees, performs administrative duties and maintains accurate records on Recreation Department activities. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation and the Director of Parks and Recreation.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, or a related field, and five (5) years of recreation programming experience in a recreation environment similar in size to the City of Montgomery which must include at least three (3) years of experience at a supervisory level.

 NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must be willing to work weekends or after normal work hours in order to manage and supervise parks, special facilities and recreation program events.  Must be available to be on call on weekends as assigned.

Kind of Examination

Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
