The fundamental reason this
classification exists is to perform entry-level survey engineering work in the
field as a member of a survey crew. As
experience is acquired, incumbent performs with increasing independence. Employee may assume the lead role in the
absence of the Engineering Technician II.
The classification is distinguished from the Engineering Technician II
by the greater complexity of assignments and level of independent decision
making required of the Engineering Technician II classification. Specific
assignments are received from the Professional Land Surveyor; however, work is
performed under the direct supervision of the Engineering Technician II and is
normally reviewed in progress and upon completion. The work responsibilities are: may perform as
a lead worker in the absence of the crew chief and works with the surveying
crew (as the instrument person).
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the
requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be
considered.
