Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

This is specialized law enforcement and limited supervisory work providing protection for civilian aviation passengers, visitors, aircraft and facilities. Work responsibilities include providing security protection, ensuring FAA Certification compliance, writing and maintaining records and reports, working with outside law enforcement agencies, assisting and giving information to the public, and supervising Airport Police Officers in a commercial aviation environment.  Employees in this class exercise supervision over Airport Police Officers on an assigned shift and reports to the Airport Police Sergeant.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have at least at least 18 months experience as an Airport Police Officer with the Montgomery Airport Authority.

NOTE:  Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must possess and maintain a current Alabama driver's license. Must be willing to work nights, shifts, and weekends. Must submit to a 5-year employment background check to satisfy Federal Aviation Administration requirements.  Must be certified by a licensed physician to be in good health and physically fit for duty.  Must be 21 years of age, have U.S. citizenship or have applied for U.S. citizenship before applying for Airport Police Officer and must complete a 1-year probationary period.

Kind of Examination

Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) vacancy and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register.  The current vacancy is with the Montgomery Regional Airport Helvetica.  Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire.  For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application and supplemental questionnaire form completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were.  If more than five qualified applications are received, a selection procedure will be developed in order to rank applicants on the register.  Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
