Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to oversee and supervise skilled and semi-skilled workers and work crews performing specialized maintenance of the Airport’s grounds and facilities. The work responsibilities of this classification may include: planning and implementing the schedule of maintenance projects; supervising the maintenance and repair of all lighting and electrical systems; planning, directing and scheduling the work of employees; performing administrative related duties; and recommending an annual maintenance budget. Employees in this class participate in maintaining, monitoring and repairing the Airport’s airside, landside, terminal and other facility assets. These items include but are not limited to landscaping, baggage conveyor systems, passenger boarding bridges, automatic doors and gates, roofs, airfield lighting and equipment. Employees in this class are also responsible for maintenance and repairs to equipment components in areas of electrical, HVAC and plumbing. General supervision is received from the Facilities, Operations, & Maintenance Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Airport or Aviation/Aerospace Management, Aviation/Aerospace Science, or closely related field and at least five (5) years of airfield maintenance experience involving electrical circuits and equipment, including or supplemented by two (2) years of supervisory experience.

NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must be able to work in various weather conditions such as rain, extreme heat and/or cold. Must be able to use a computer operating system such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, internet, work order systems, etc. Must submit to a 5-year employment and criminal background check to include fingerprinting in order to satisfy Federal Aviation Administration requirements. Must have a valid driver license and an insurable driving record.

Kind of Examination

Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) vacancy and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register.  The current vacancy is with the Montgomery Regional Airport.  Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire.  For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application and supplemental questionnaire form completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were.  If more than five qualified applications are received, a selection procedure will be developed in order to rank applicants on the register.  Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
