Nature of Work
This is skilled work repairing and maintaining paved and unpaved airfield surfaces, hangers, and various mechanical devices using a variety of light and heavy maintenance and construction equipment, power and hand tools. Work also involves semi-skilled and manual labor required to perform a variety of duties necessary to maintain airport properties while following airport security regulations concerning access to airfield. Employees in this class report to the Airfield Maintenance Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D. Must have 1 year experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of general maintenance equipment such as tractors, backhoes, bush hogs, zero-turn lawnmowers, etc.
Special Requirements
Must submit to a 5-year Federal Aviation Administration security background check and must pass a TSA background check. Must be willing to work nights and weekends to complete projects or critical maintenance work. Must have and maintain a valid Alabama Driver's License. Must be insurable under airport insurance policy. Must submit to random drug tests.
Kind of Examination

Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application. If more than five qualified applications are received, a selection procedure will be administered to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
