Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform manual work which does not require a high degree of manipulative skill or an acquired skill or previous experience.  Work is generally performed under the immediate direction of a supervisor, but many types of work assigned may be very routine and repetitive in nature, and after once learned can be carried out with some independence.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires basic skills in reading and writing and ability to use simple tools and equipment where proficiency is gained in hours or days.

NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Some positions require the use of departmental vehicles on departmental business.  Individuals must be capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT - Applications will be accepted for the position of Service Maintenance Worker I  at the Montgomery County Engineering Department located on the 2nd Floor at 100 S. Lawrence Street, Montgomery, AL, 36104. Please go through the entrance on Adams Avenue. There will be signs directing you. Applications will only be accepted during the announcement period. In order to apply, you will pick up an application at the Montgomery County Engineering Department and complete it during the announcement period.
