For the Corrections Officer Trainee, a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate is required. For Corrections Officer, a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate; APOST-C certification from the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission or completion of a two week jail management course. High school diplomas must be from accredited high schools. Correspondence or mail order high school diplomas are not accepted.

Applications are being accepted to fill vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancy is with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. Applicants will be pre-screened using the application and an applicant’s responses to a qualification/willingness questionnaire. Individuals who meet the pre-screening criteria will be referred to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). MCSO will contact individuals to begin the next phase of the screening process.
