Nature of Work

Administration of a comprehensive program to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths and financial losses as well as assisting with the administrative functions of the Risk Management Program.  Major work responsibilities include investigating accidents, damages, and personal injury; gathering and analyzing safety and accident data; managing a comprehensive worker safety program; developing and managing a comprehensive general liability program; managing a worker’s compensation program; and performing various administrative duties related to risk management.  Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Risk Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, human resources, safety engineering, risk management or a closely related degree and two (2) years of experience in the area of risk management, risk control, or worker’s compensation administration.  

NOTE:  Designation as an ARM or CSP will substitute for the two years of experience.

Special Requirements

Must have a valid State of Alabama driver's license and an insurable driving record for the last three (3) years and maintain such valid driver's license and insurable driving record while employed.  Designation as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) is desired during employment.

Kind of Examination

Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) vacancy and any other vacancies that may occur during the life of the register.  The current vacancy is with the Montgomery County Risk Management Department. Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire.  For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application form and  supplemental questionnaire completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
