Municipal Jail Corrections Lieutenant

The fundamental reason this job exists is to oversee the jail operations in order to ensure the safety, health, and welfare of inmates, provide for jail maintenance and security, and comply with city, state, and federal regulations, laws, and procedures regarding the incarceration and care of inmates. The Municipal Jail Corrections Lieutenant supervises the Municipal Jail Corrections Sergeants and Police Nurses. Supervision is provided by the  assigned Montgomery Police Department Major.

 

Must have at least two years’ experience as a Municipal Jail Corrections Sergeant (shift supervisor) in the Montgomery City Jail. (PROMOTIONAL) 

 

This position is open only to City of Montgomery Municipal Jail employees who have completed their probationary period and meet the minimum qualifications.   Applications are being accepted to fill one vacancy and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register.  The current vacancy is with the City of Montgomery Municipal Jail Division.  Applicants will be screened and qualified based on education and experience as shown on the application.  For this reason, applicants are urged to fill inn the application form completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were.  If more than six qualified applications are received, a selection procedure will be administered in order to rank applicants on the employment register.  Tied scores will not be broken (in accordance with Personnel Rules and Regulations, Rule VII, Section 3).  If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
