Nature of Work
The fundamental reason that this
classification exists is to manage the probate court section of the Probate
Judge’s office. This job is responsible
for supervising the day-to-day operations within the Probate Judge’s
office. Major work responsibilities
include leading or supervising an office staff of two or more employees,
preparing cases and/or documents, conducting research regarding a case, performing
technical duties, preparing for and attending probate hearings, preparing
documentation that results from hearings, providing services to visitors and
citizens, and assisting with federal, state, county, and other local elections. The Probate Court Clerk Supervisor differs
from the Probate Court Clerk in that the supervisor not only works the more
difficult cases but is responsible for the day-to-day operations and
supervision of the clerks.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D.
equivalent and three (3) years of responsible clerical or administrative
experience AND probate court experience involving involuntary commitments,
adoptions, guardianships, etc.
Kind of Examination
Applications are being accepted to fill one vacancy and any other vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancy is with the Montgomery County Probate Office. Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and attached supplemental questionnaire. For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application form and the supplemental questionnaire completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
