Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to manage and supervise the daily operations of the Parking Management Department. The employee is responsible for managing, performing and/or coordinating maintenance, housekeeping, staffing and security of all parking facility and equipment. The essential functions are: oversees the Parking Management Department; oversees municipal parking violations/ordinances enforcement, manages the department’s daily operations; performs purchasing functions; manages parking revenue collection operations; supervises Parking Management Department employees; maintains repairs, adjusts and coordinates the repair/installation of parking control equipment and facilities; and develops and maintains the department’s operating and capital improvement budget.  Employee operates independently under limited supervision from the General Services Director.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration or a closely related field. Must have two years of supervision, budgeting and financial management/recordkeeping experience.  Experience in building, property or facility management is preferred.

Special Requirements

Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, pollen, humidity, rain and temperature extremes. The performance of essential functions may occasionally require overtime or weekend work. Subject to being on-call twenty-four hours in order to respond to security issues or vandalism at the parking facilities as reported by law enforcement agencies and/or other individuals. Must be willing to work overtime or weekend work and be on-call twenty-four hours in order to respond to security issues or vandalism as reported by law enforcement agencies and/or other individuals.

Kind of Examination

Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) current vacancy and any vacancies that occur during the life of the register. The current vacancy is with the City of Montgomery Parking Management Department. Applicants will be screened and qualified based on the education and experience on their online application and supplemental questionnaire. If more than five qualified applications are received, a selection device will be used to rank applicants.  Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
