Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this position exists is to provide the citizens of Montgomery a single point of contact for all city events and services.  The essential functions include receiving and responding to various types of inquiries, problems or complaints over the telephone and handling administrative duties.  This position reports to a 3-1-1 Customer Service Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year of customer service experience.  


Special Requirements

Must be willing to work a flexible, non-routine schedule at the City of Montgomery Call Center or City/County EMA locations as directed to include possible weekend work, overtime and/or long hours in order to assist in responding during emergencies and natural or man-made disasters.  Some positions may be utilized on an "as needed" part-time basis.

Kind of Examination

The register established from this announcement period will expire one year from the register date. The register will be set up to fill vacancies with the City of Montgomery 311 Department. For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application form completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were.  If there are more than five (5) qualified applicants, a computerized test will be used to rank applicants on the eligible list. Tied scores will not be broken.
