Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform the technical and professional work necessary to manage the Montgomery Airport Authority’s information technology systems.  This classification is serves as the IT expert for the department and is responsible for the installation, organization, and maintenance of all IT systems.  The primary work responsibilities include:  overseeing the Airport’s IT operations; installing all Airport IT hardware and software systems and products; maintaining Airport’s computer hardware and software ; training Airport personnel on the use of computers, networks, software applications, email, and various IT-related equipment; administering the Airport website, social media presence, and internet access; and serving as the Airport’s IT expert. Work is performed with considerable independence in judgement and action.  This classification reports to the Deputy Airport Director and/or Airport Director who provides general supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate’s Degree in Computer Science (or related field) and  three (3) years of responsible experience with Local Area Networks, installing and maintaining hardware and software systems, Web page development and maintenance, and Internet and e-mail maintenance.

Special Requirements

Must be willing to work after normal work hours to resolve systems emergency situations.

Kind of Examination

If more than five qualified applications are received, a selection procedure will be administered to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
