Nature of Work

The fundamental reason the classification exists is to perform responsible and skilled work in the operation of a tractor-trailer type vehicle, mounted with a hydraulically operated boom type limb-loader used in the collection and transporting of bulk trash and other refuse to the Montgomery City Landfill.  The work responsibilities of this classification are: drives and maneuvers a tractor-trailer type limb-loader with a hydraulically operated boom type limb loader; directs the work of one laborer; and performs vehicle maintenance checks on the vehicle and loader.  The work of this employee is performed generally under the direction of the Property Maintenance Supervisor or a Refuse Collection Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of experience in the operation of heavy equipment to include a limb loader; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must currently have and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). 

Special Requirements

Must provide a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) from the Department of Public Safety as proof of an insurable driving record.  Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to respond to City emergencies and special projects.  Must be able to perform job tasks in inclement weather conditions.

Kind of Examination

If more than five qualified applications are received, the application will be scored to rank the qualified applicants on the eligible register and tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
