Nature of Work

The purpose of this position is responsible for skilled work in the installation, climbing, maintenance and repairing of ballfield and stadium lighting, electrical systems and equipment. The employee in this class will supervise and work of individuals in the Electrician I and II positions, who performs construction and maintenance activities in city complexes, and on various city owned properties. The incumbent will inspect lighting and electrical systems to make recommendations to superiors for needed repairs. Minimal supervision is received, but is specific in nature; however, the employee is responsible for organizing the work and exercising technical supervision over the work. The Ballfield Lighting Technician reports to the Mechanical Trades Supervisor and/or Building Construction Superintendent.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or its equivalent; and/or degree or certificate of training from an accredited electrical technology or electrician program is a plus. Four years of experience climbing poles up to a height of 135 feet and working with electrical systems up to 7200 volts. Additional qualifying experience include supervisory experience in the construction, operation, and maintenance of ballfield lighting systems.
