The fundamental reason that this classification exists is to supervise the food preparation for inmates in and manage the food service for the Montgomery County Detention Facility. Major work responsibilities include managing the food service for the Montgomery County Detention Facility, overseeing or directing the kitchen staff and inmates in the daily preparation, cooking, serving and clean-up of large quantity meals and overall kitchen operations, supervising two or more permanent employees and directing the activities of inmates assigned to work in the kitchen, and handling complaints, requests and special needs. Work is performed under the direction of a Corrections Officer Captain who serves as the Program Coordinator.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and three years of experience in large scale cooking with at least two of the three years in a supervisory or lead role to include experience planning and preparing menus and meals, ordering food supplies or items and overseeing the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen facilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
