Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this position exists is to manage the Juvenile Detention Facility of the Montgomery County Juvenile Court.  Work includes directing operations and programs, performing administrative duties such as budgeting, purchasing and contract administration, overseeing the security of the facility, and supervising detention and food services staff.  The work is performed under the general supervision of the Juvenile Court Administrator and the Presiding Circuit Judge. 

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from a four year college or university in sociology, psychology, criminology, law, educational psychology, social casework, business or public administration or equivalent behavioral or social sciences and three (3) years' management and administrative experience in detention, treatment, or rehabilitation to include budgeting, purchasing, and policy administration.

NOTE: Preference will be given to those applicants with a related Master's Degree and/or those with juvenile/adolescent residential management experience.

NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
